Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla believes that the Premier League has several advantages over La Liga, not least no late night kick-offs in winter on Sundays.

Cazorla swapped Malaga for Arsenal in 2012 and has not looked back since, establishing himself as a key member of Arsene Wenger's squad and a firm fan favourite at the Emirates Stadium.

The 30-year-old is in his third year away from Spanish football and he has been able to form a firm view of the differences between La Liga and the Premier League, feeling the English game has several advantages over its Spanish counterpart.

Speaking to Elite Magazine, Cazorla said: "The Premier League has several good points over the Spanish league.

"The issue is very important with dates. In Spain, it is very difficult when you have to play on a Sunday at 21:00, which in winter is cold and also people work on Monday.

"The respect for the players [in England] is amazing. There they go to enjoy what football is, a sport."

Cazorla also dubbed the atmosphere at grounds in the Premier League "spectacular".

The midfielder has been linked with a return to Spain for the last 12 months, with Atletico Madrid mooted as his most likely destination.

However, if Cazorla does return to Spain he wants it to be with boyhood club Real Oviedo, a club he could not manage a senior appearance for before being sold to Villarreal.
