Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is keeping mum on the Gunners’ reported interest in prising away Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema this summer.

The Gunners have enjoyed a good run of form since the turn of the year which has resulted in them finishing in third spot in the league table. They have also made it to the final of the FA Cup for the second year running and they will contest the domestic cup against Aston Villa this weekend.

Wenger’s men bowed out of the Champions League at the round of 16 stage after some poor finishing from their forwards, especially Olivier Giroud, saw them lose 3-1 to Monaco in the first leg at the Emirates Stadium.

The north London outfit have been reported to be after Benzema in their bid to add more potency up front as they prepare for the upcoming season.

However, Wenger has evaded the question of Arsenal’s interest in the French marksman, saying that he is not yet in transfer mode.

“You can suspect that at the moment I am not in a transfer mode”, the 65-year-old was quoted as saying by his club’s site, when asked about whether he may be interested in Benzema.

“We’ll deal with the transfers after the FA Cup final.

“It’s all suspicions.

“Does anybody know if that’s true or not? I don’t know.”
