Former Inter Milan playmaker Wesley Sneijder has backed his former boss Jose Mourinho and feels it would be a mistake for Chelsea to sack him.

Mourinho is feeling the heat at Stamford Bridge after his side have made a disastrous start to their season and many feel if results don’t improve the Chelsea boss could soon be looking for a new job.

The Premier League champions have collected just eleven points from as many league games and the Portuguese has already conceded that even qualifying for the Champions League will be a tough ask for the Blues this season.

The Chelsea boss is under pressure to save his job in west London, but Sneijder feels that should not be the case at all. The Dutch star, who won the treble under Mourinho at Inter, feels the Portuguese deserves more respect and Chelsea would make a mistake if they sack him.

The former Inter star was quoted as saying by O Jogo: “He is not only a good coach, but is also a good person.

“He deserves respect for what he has done. It would be mistake to say goodbye to him because Chelsea won’t find anyone better than him. He is the best and importantly, best for Chelsea.”

The playmaker is also confident that Mourinho is good enough to see off this rough period and go on to win more trophies at Chelsea, if the club stick with him.

“Mourinho will come back stronger. He is very strong and believes in his players. There will be no surprise if he wins more titles at Chelsea.”
