Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths has scooped the Scottish Premiership Player of the Month award for October.

Griffiths has firmly established himself as Celtic's first choice striker, seeing off a challenge from summer signing Nadir Ciftci, although he has a fresh competitor to battle after the Bhoys signed free agent Carlton Cole.

The 25-year-old scored six times in the month of October, a haul which included four goals in the Scottish Premiership.

Griffiths also found the back of the net in a Europa League draw with Fenerbahce and a League Cup victory over Hearts.

The Celtic man celebrated his award success by bagging a brace in the Bhoys' 4-1 league thrashing of Ross County on Sunday.
