Ronny Deila has revealed that Celtic captain Scott Brown will be out of action for two to three months due to an injury.
The Scotland international limped off in Celtic’s 0-0 draw against Kilmarnock last Saturday and while Deila was hopeful of getting him back before their Europa League sojourn, things have turned out to be different.
The Celtic boss has revealed that the midfielder’s injury is more serious than previously thought and Brown has been ruled out of action for the next two to three months at least.
The Celtic boss said in a press conference: "Scott Brown out for a while, not available.
"We don't know for sure yet but it could be eight to 12 weeks."

The Celtic boss is also hoping that Brown doesn’t have to undergo surgery, which would mean that he could be out for longer than just three months.
When asked whether surgery is required, Deila said: "We are not sure yet but hopefully that is not necessary. He had a scan on Monday."
Brown is a talismanic figure inside the Celtic dressing room, but the 30-year-old has struggled with injuries this season.
He has already missed games this term due to knee problems and Deila will be hoping that his captain soon returns to the field to rally his troops for the second half of the campaign.
