Rangers midfielder Gedion Zelalem is looking forward to playing St Mirren in the semi-final of the Petrofac Training Cup at Ibrox tomorrow.

The midfielder, who is currently on loan from Premier League giants Arsenal, has become an integral part of the Gers as they look to secure promotion to the top tier of Scottish football.

The 18-year-old is excited to ensure that his side beat the Buddies and progress to the final of the competition, which would be Zelalem’s first as a professional footballer.

Speaking in an interview with Rangers TV, Zelalem said: “Definitely [looking forward to the semi-final], it would be nice to get into a final, my first professional final.

“So you know, I’m definitely looking forward to it and yes we are looking forward to the game.”

The German-born United States U23 international insists Rangers are not about to change the way they play just because the game in question is a semi-final.

And Zelalem wants his side to make sure they retain possession and move the ball quickly.

The Arsenal starlet explained: “No, we go out and play the game in the same way, you know, keep the ball, move the ball, quick movement.

“But it’s obviously a special occasion because of the finals we know that, but it will be just another game.”

Rangers currently sit top of the Scottish Championship table and on course to return to the Scottish Premiership next term.
