Celtic skipper Scott Brown has insisted that he sees a lot of himself in young left-back Kieran Tierney.

The 18-year-old, who has progressed through Celtic’s youth system, made his senior debut for the club last season, with the starlet making one more first team appearance in the 2014/15 campaign.

However, Tierney has featured more prominently for Ronny Deila’s team this term as the defender has gone on to amass 19 appearances in all competitions, providing two assists.

The teenager, who played the whole ninety minutes in the 2-0 win over Ross County in a Scottish Premiership game at the weekend, is known for his no-nonsense tackling and never-say-die attitude.

And Brown, who explained that he was also a tough tackler when he first broke into the Bhoys' first team, has backed Tierney to have a bright future at Celtic Park.

“I see a lot of myself in him, especially when I was coming through as I was the exact same as him – he wears a t-shirt in all weather, and tackles anything that moves”, the midfielder told Celtic View.

“The only thing that’s different is the wee man’s got a great left foot, although I seem to score most of my goals with my left so maybe I’m left-footed too. I’ve just been playing with my right all this time!

“His attitude is spot-on. He just has to keep playing games and keep learning. He loves a challenge and every one he faces he comes through with a gold star. Hopefully we’ll see a lot more from him.”

Tierney, whose present contract with Celtic runs until 2019, is yet to earn a senior cap for Scotland but has represented the nation up to Under-19 level.
