Celtic defender Dedryck Boyata has backed his new team-mate Patrick Roberts to make an impact at the club.
Roberts, who joined the Hoops on an 18-month loan deal from Manchester City during the winter transfer window, made his debut for his new employers when he came on as a late substitute in the 3-0 win over Inverness CT at the weekend.
The winger was snapped up by the Citizens from Fulham in the summer, but a lack of playing time at the Etihad Stadium prompted the 19-year-old to move to the Scottish giants.
And Boyata, who himself joined Celtic from Manchester City on a four-year deal in June, explained that his old team-mates in Manchester only had positive things to say about Roberts.
“I remembered Patrick from when Manchester City played against Fulham and he was very impressive”, he was quoted as saying by the Scotland Herald.

“He was only 16 and looked a really good player. I’ve spoken to a few of the players, the French-speaking lads, who were involved in pre-season when they went to Australia and they have all told me he is very good.
“He has got great skill, plenty of quality.
“It is not easy to go on loan at certain teams, but it says a lot for Patrick that he has played for Manchester City’s first team.
“Everyone can see how difficult it can be for a young player to make the breakthrough with the squad they’ve got. I believe he can make an impact here.
"He can do a job in several positions.”
Roberts, whose present deal with Manchester City runs until 2020, has thus far made three senior appearances in all competitions for the Premier League outfit.
He has also represented England up to Under-19 level.
