Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is sure his side need to play with pace and speed at Old Trafford to beat Manchester United on Sunday.

The Gunners title credentials will come under the scanner against the Red Devils, who go into the contest in good heart after cup wins over Shrewsbury Town and FC Midtjylland, the latter a 5-1 romp at Old Trafford on Thursday night.

Wenger thinks he knows what Arsenal need to do to take all three points from Manchester, something which could prove key given the close nature of the Premier League title race.

The Frenchman said via his club's site: "We had a good performance against them in October. I think we took them a little bit by surprise and we played at a high pace from the start and closed down well early on.

"We need to play at that pace again because our game is based on pace and speed, and if we don’t have that I don’t see how we can win there", he added.

And Wenger identified Alexis Sanchez as a key man when it comes to taking down the Red Devils.

"We have to raise our level at the right moment. You want to raise your level and after, individually, the players will benefit from that.

"When we attack well, Alexis will be very dangerous so we have to focus on attacking well together", the experienced tactician said.

Arsenal go into the weekend sitting in third spot in the Premier League table, behind second placed Tottenham Hotspur on goal difference and two off leaders Leicester City.
