Arsenal linked defender Ricardo Rodriguez has emerged as a target for Chelsea as Antonio Conte steps up his search for a left-back this summer.

After allowing Baba Rahman and Nathan Ake to leave the club on loan, Chelsea are without a top class left-back and were forced to field Cesar Azpilicueta on the left side of their defence against West Ham on Monday night.

With a little less than two weeks left in the transfer window, Conte is stepping up his search for a left-back, and according to Swiss daily Blick, Rodriguez is one of the players on Chelsea's shortlist.

The defender’s future at Wolfsburg has been under the scanner all summer, as he has been incessantly linked with a move away from Germany, with Arsenal being one of his suitors.

However, that trail has gone cold in recent weeks, and it seems Chelsea are the club who could make a play for the Switzerland international in the next few days of the window.

Rodriguez was available for a fee of €25m earlier in the summer, but Wolfsburg could ask for more if one of his suitors come calling this month.

The 23-year-old has clocked up 157 appearances for the Bundesliga outfit and has a contract until 2019.

He has also been capped 41 times by Switzerland.
