Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes it is disappointing that the 1.FC Koln fans decided to spoil their side's return to European football with their behaviour last night.
With around just 3,000 tickets allotted to the Bundesliga side, 20,000 Koln fans descended on the streets of London and forcefully tried to enter the Emirates Stadium.
Some fans made their way into the stadium’s home section and clashes with security officials outside and inside the Emirates forced the match to only start after more than an hour’s delay.
UEFA are expected to investigate the chaotic scenes that unfolded in north London last night and Wenger feels it is a shame that the Koln fans decided to spoil the club’s return to European football with their unruly behaviour.
The Frenchman decided against speculating on what transpired inside and outside the Emirates, which could have stopped the game from starting last night.

Wenger said in a press conference: “Look, I’ve followed German football for a long time and I thought Cologne had not played in Europe for 25 years.
"On the first night they go out [to play], they spoil their night.
“I couldn’t understand that.
"Were the problems created by people who had no tickets? I don’t know. But certainly they had more people here than tickets so that was certainly the cause.
“We left that to the police – I’m not better informed than you.
"I just had to speculate on if the game was not played, what would we do.”
The Koln fans have received criticism for their behaviour in the German media, with some saying that they have shamed the country’s football culture in England.
