Belgium and Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois believes that it is natural for Simon Mignolet to feel disillusionment after failing to make the team against England, though he believes that once a goalkeeper gets into his flow it is ideal not to change.

Roberto Martinez made as many as nine changes to his starting line-up for the game against England, though the Chelsea goalkeeper kept his place in the starting eleven for the third straight game in the tournament.

Citing the instance of England, where Jordan Pickford also kept his place, in spite of eight changes being made, Courtois said that it is ideally preferable to have the same goalkeeper between the sticks as goalkeepers are in desperate need of rhythm.

"On the one side I can understand Simon's disillusionment, of course, but on the other you can see that the 'keeper of England was also allowed to play in spite of them having the option to change", Courtois said at a press conference.

"France have changed but others may not, that is obviously a choice of the coach.

"Once you are in a flow in a tournament as a goalkeeper and start feeling good, I think that as a coach you just want to continue to have the confidence in the goalkeeper to maintain that rhythm."

The 1-0 win against England in the final group stage game of the World Cup means that Belgium will play Japan in their round of 16 match on Monday.
