Celtic have rekindled their interest in Leeds United linked defender Jason Denayer and are again probing the option of signing him this summer.

Brendan Rodgers is keen to see more reinforcements to his double treble winning squad and adding a defender is believed to be one of Celtic’s priorities.

Celtic have rejected an aggressive bid from Fulham for Dedryck Boyata this summer and Rodgers has indicated that the defender won’t be allowed to leave the club.

And it has been claimed that the Scottish champions are plotting to partner Boyata with a compatriot of his as they rekindle their interest in Denayer.

According to Belgian daily Het Laatste Nieuws, Celtic are interested in signing the Manchester City defender as part of their plans to improve their defence for the new season.

The player is not short of interest and has been linked with Championship side Leeds in recent days.

Denayer has had several loan spells over the last few years, including one at Celtic during the 2014/15 campaign, and is keen to sort out his future.

He is not part of Pep Guardiola’s plans and Manchester City are looking to ship him out again this summer.

It remains to be seen whether they are keen to again loan him out or find a more permanent solution for the Belgian.
