Dalot was roped in to Manchester United in the summer of 2018 from Portuguese giants FC Porto by then Red Devils boss Mourinho, and was expected to kick on at Old Trafford.

Although the full-back spent only a brief period under Mourinho’s tutelage as he left Manchester in December 2018, Dalot insists his former boss made a huge impact on his career.

Mourinho is one of the most important coaches he has had in his short career, according to Dalot, with the defender stressing that he had a great experience playing under him.

Asked about his thoughts on Mourinho, Dalot told Sky Italia: “He is one of the most important coaches I have had in my short career.

“It [playing under him] was a great experience.

“Right now, he is the Tottenham boss, I am completely focused on Milan.”

Dalot, who currently plies his trade at Italian giants AC Milan on a season-long loan, insists his team are aiming to win every competition they are part of by taking their season one game at a time.

“[It is] too early to set goals [for AC MIlan], let’s take it step by step.

“We all dream of winning trophies, why not dream of [winning] the Scudetto [Serie A] or the Europa League?

“We want to win every competition we participate in.

“We know that all the competitions are difficult.”

Both AC Milan and Spurs have qualified from their respective Europa League groups as leaders and Dalot could find himself playing against Mourinho further down the European campaign.
