Fernandes has had an alchemic effect on Manchester United since he joined the club from Sporting Lisbon in the final days of the winter transfer window last year.
He has scored 29 goals and provided 20 assists for his team-mates in 54 appearances for the club since arriving at Old Trafford and is the talisman of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.
Fernandes is Manchester United’s top scorer this season with 17 goals and is arguably the most influential figure at Old Trafford on the pitch at the moment.
He is on a contract worth £100,000 per week, which is far away from the top earners at the club such as David de Gea and Paul Pogba.
Manchester United executives are now considering offering the midfielder a contract in line with his importance to the club.
The club started to talk internally about improving Fernandes’ wages in November, just ten months after he arrived at Manchester United.
Manchester United are now in talks with his representatives over putting him on a better contract in line with his performances over the last year.
He is unlikely to reach the top bracket of earners just yet but he is likely to be put on the next rung of contracts at Old Trafford.
