The 17-year-old striker recently grabbed headlines by scoring four goals in a Premier League 2 game against Liverpool for Manchester United.

The Premier League giants signed him from Sunderland on a deal worth £300,000 and he wasted little time in graduating from the Under-18 to the Under-23 side.

Hugill has scored 14 goals in 18 appearances for the Manchester United’s youth team this season and has popped up on the radar of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

And it has been claimed that Manchester United had to move early for Hugill last summer as there was considerable interest in the young forward.

Tottenham, Leeds and Wolves were all in for him, but Manchester United made an early move to work out a deal with Sunderland and beat their three league rivals to his signature, as the trio had not finalised their youth targets.

The Premier League giants agreed to pay around 50 per cent more than they would have paid had a tribunal fixed the compensation.

But it allowed them the advantage of having the first bite at getting Hugill and they managed to convince him to move to Manchester United.
