Rangers are sitting pretty at the top of the Scottish Premiership table at the moment, 23 points clear of second-placed Celtic.

Steven Gerrard’s side have the best defensive record in Scotland this season, conceding just seven goals in the 27 league games thus far and they have not let in a goal in their last three fixtures.

Wilson lauded the consistency that Rangers have shown as they march towards the title and stressed the importance of them getting clean sheets on a consistent basis.

He conceded that they might not be playing the most attractive stuff every week, but they are getting the job done in every game and feels the Gers fans won’t care about some of the football once they are crowned champions in a few weeks’ time.

Wilson said on Clyde 1’s Superscoreboard: “Their consistency is remarkable.

“I keep touching on it every single week and I sound like a broken record with the clean sheets, but no matter where they are playing [they do it].

“Away at Easter Road last week, a clean sheet, at home to a St. Johnstone side with a different formation, another clean sheet.

“Relying on his goalkeeper to make a save, relying on probably [Filip] Helander last week who was outstanding, to make some crucial interactions.

“It’s the same week after week for Rangers and you have got to say, it’s remarkable what they are churning out.

“It might not be eye-catching every single week, but if you get the job done, come six games time, I don’t think many Rangers fans will care.”

Rangers have conceded just two goals in their last five games in the Scottish Premiership.
