Rangers secured their first league title over a decade when Celtic only managed to a draw against Dundee United at the weekend.

It ended Celtic’s almost decade-long domination of Scottish football and won Rangers their 55th top flight title in Scotland.

Rangers are yet to lose a league game this season and they have completed dominated the Scottish Premiership from the start.

McManus admits that Rangers looked focused from the start of the season and refused to make the mistakes they committed in the last two years by not talking about winning the league title before actually doing it.

He stressed that Rangers have been a country mile ahead of any team in Scotland this season and richly deserve to be champions.

McManus said on PLZ Soccer: “It has been a phenomenal season for Rangers and for the supporters to watch.

“I think from day one they came in focused and they learned lessons from the past.

“I think in previous seasons the Rangers players came out when they were top of the league, and even the manager, spoke about winning the league.

“But there was no talk of that right up until Sunday when they won it. There was no talk of winning the league.

“They kept their own counsel, they did things properly, they took it game by game, took three points every week and they were consistent.

“They piled the pressure on Celtic and Celtic haven’t been able to cope so all credit to Rangers.

“They have been the best team in the league by an absolute country mile.”

It remains to be seen whether Celtic decide to give Rangers a guard of honour ahead of the derby at Parkhead later this month.
