The Colombian, affectionately called El Bufalo, is known to be tough physical presence in the Gers attacking line but he has had some disciplinary lapses since he joined.
Morelos led the Rangers attacking line on Thursday in their 1-1 draw with Slavia Prague in the Europa League and again had a solid outing, despite not scoring.
Rangers legend Rae feels that Morelos received a fair share of rough challenges from the hosts on Thursday with the referee not stepping in, but believes how the Gers hitman continued to plough on is a sign of how he has matured.
Morelos plays a pivotal role in how Rangers carry out their business, according to Rae, and he lauded the 24-year-old for his brilliant display against the Sesivani.
“I actually think the referee did not do him any favours on the [Thursday] night as well”, Rae said on the Rangers Ten10 Podcast.
“I thought there were a few times where there was a coming a together and he was getting fouls on him.
“[But I feel as if] he is coming of age; he is maturing and he is actually getting it now
“He is pivotal to anything Rangers do and I think he was brilliant on the [Thursday] night.”
Morelos has three goals and seven assists to his name in the Europa League so far this season and will be keen on adding to that tally next Thursday when the Gers host Slavia Prague at Ibrox.
