Vinicius grabbed the opener for Spurs on Sunday in a 2-0 win away at Aston Villa in the Premier League as he tapped the ball into the back of the net after being set up Harry Kane, who then went on to seal the game for his side through a penalty.
Joining Spurs on loan from Benfica in October, the Brazilian has made eight appearances for the north London side in the Premier League this season and the strike at Villa Park was his first in the league.
Tottenham winger Lucas admits he is thrilled for Vinicius as he knows just how hard the attacker has been working and what it means to him to make the back of the net ripple in the Premier League.
“I’m very, very happy for him. I know how he worked for this moment to score his first goal in Premier League, I know what it means for him”, Lucas was quoted as saying by football.london.
“He did very well, worked very hard today.
“It’s not easy to play 90 minutes in Premier League.
“I hope he keeps going in this way because he will be very important for us.”
After playing the full 90 minutes against Aston Villa, Vinicius will look to add to his tally for Spurs as they aim to fight for a place in the top four in the Premier League.
It remains to be seen if Tottenham will look to sign Vinicius on a permanent basis from Benfica at the end of the season.
