Damsgaard has established himself as a regular at Italian Serie A side Sampdoria since joining from Danish outfit Nordsjaelland last summer.
The 20-year-old’s performances for Claudio Ranieri’s side have seen him attract the interest of several clubs, including Premier League duo Leeds and Tottenham.
However, Damsgaard, whose contract with Sampdoria lasts until 2024, has now revealed that he can see himself staying at the Genoa-based club beyond the summer.
The Denmark international also admitted that he has always dreamed of playing in Spain, but feels Italy suits him as a player, handing a potential blow to Leeds and Tottenham’s hopes.
“I can easily see myself playing another season at Sampdoria“, Damsgaard was quoted as saying by Danish daily Ekstra Bladet.
“I have always dreamed of Spain, but Italy actually suits me well.“
Damsgaard also expressed his delight at how his move to Sampdoria has gone forward and explained that he has the opportunity to develop as a player at the club.
“I have been incredibly happy with the move to Sampdoria, it’s a cool city“, the winger said.
“The coach trusts me, he wants to use me and I have good opportunities to develop.“
Damsgaard has scored two goals and provided four assists from 26 Serie A appearances for Sampdoria so far this season.
