Celtic are on the lookout for a new manager after Neil Lennon resigned from the post in February.

Eddie Howe seems to be the favourite to become the next Celtic manager, but the rumours around Roy Keane taking up the job next season have not been going away.

Petrov, who played under Martin O’Neill at Celtic and won four league titles, believes there is a need for a big figurehead at the helm for the Bhoys.

He believes given what Gerrard has done Rangers and how the Gers have been playing, Celtic will need their new manager to be a charismatic leader who can galvanise the squad next season.

Petrov said on the Celtic Huddle Podcast: “We had different managers.

“We had managers with strong characters, we had good leaders, and we had good coaches who managed to do a good job.

“But for now, especially for next season the way Rangers are playing and Steven Gerrard lets them play, you need somebody who is more charismatic with leadership.

“Who is that going to be? I don’t know.”

With the managerial situation not sorted out, Celtic fans may want answers before they renew their season tickets for next season. 4:32
