Spurs’ shambolic managerial pursuit has dragged on for more than two months since they sacked Jose Mourinho in April.

They failed with an attempt to bring back Mauricio Pochettino and baulked at the demands Antonio Conte made following holding talks with the Italian.

Earlier this month, they tore up an agreement with Paulo Fonseca to chase Gennaro Gattuso, only to call off that pursuit following a backlash from the fans and inside the boardroom.

Nuno has slowly been emerging as the frontrunner to become the next Spurs boss and the club have held extensive talks with the 47-year-old.

And it has been claimed that the negotiations are at an advanced stage and the former Wolves boss could be appointed as Spurs manager next week.

He has been on Fabio Paratici’s radar and the Italian is an admirer of the former Wolves manager.

Barring any more twists, Nuno is set to be appointed as the new Tottenham boss next week.

But given the false dawns Spurs have seen this summer with regards to appointing a manager, it remains to be seen whether they can get the deal over the line in the coming days.
