Kamara has been a key player under Steven Gerrard in recent seasons but is yet to hit his peak form so far in the current campaign.

But the Gers have no doubts in the midfielder’s quality and managed to tie him down to new deal on Wednesday that will see him remain at the club until the summer of 2025.

Rangers legend Hateley is delighted with Kamara pledging his long-term service to the Gers and believes he will get back to his best soon as his mind is in a good place with no distractions.

Hateley explained that as Kamara has sorted out his future he can now concentrate on the present, kick on and enjoy his football.

Asked whether he thinks signing a new deal will get Kamara into his groove, Hateley said on the Ibrox Uncovered Podcast: “Yes, I would like to think so.

“Once you’ve got your future sorted, you can concentrate on your present.

“Obviously getting your future, you have got the next three or four years, three years, all sorted in your mind, base camp, you have everything set up, everything around you the comforts, and you crack on and enjoy your football.

“That is my personal aspect and my experience.

“But once you have your future there for the next few years, it is always a good place to be.”

Kamara has started all of Rangers’ Scottish Premiership games so far this season and is again expected to feature at the weekend when they take on Dundee.
