The Whites are looking to do business during this month’s transfer window and have been linked with Aaronson, who has impressed in Austrian football with Red Bull Salzburg.
Now Leeds have tried their luck with an offer for the player, but it has proven to be unsuccessful, with Red Bull Salzburg turning down an offer of £15m.
Despite seeing the bid knocked back, Leeds remain determined to sign Aaronson in this month’s transfer window.
As such, the Yorkshire giants are likely to return with a fresh proposal in order to change Red Bull Salzburg’s mind.
Aaronson plays as a winger for the United States national side, but it is suggested that Leeds see him operating in an attacking midfield role if they can sign him.
He made the move to Austria with Red Bull Salzburg last January, joining from MLS side Philadelphia Union.
So far at the Austrian giants, Aaronson has clocked ten goals and 12 assists, across all competitions.
Red Bull Salzburg are reluctant to sell a man who has made 26 appearances for them this season, as even though they boast a healthy advantage of 14 points at the top of the Austrian Bundesliga, they are still involved in the Champions League.
