Lingard is prepared to speak to Newcastle about joining on loan for the rest of the season after barely getting any opportunities to play at Manchester United.

His contract expires at the end of the season and Newcastle are ready to cover his full wages and also pay a hefty loan fee to Manchester United for the 28-year-old.

But the negotiations have stalled between the two clubs due to Manchester United’s insistence on getting another £12m from Newcastle if they survive in the Premier League this season.

It could mean Newcastle would be spending almost £1m for each game Lingard plays in the Premier League, if he joins on the terms demanded by Manchester United.

Newcastle are not prepared to entertain such a deal and McCoist blasted Manchester United for trying to take advantage of the north east club’s wealthy owners.

He feels Newcastle should get Lingard on the same terms as West Ham did last year and believes that Manchester United’s negotiating tactics are now affecting the player.

McCoist said on talkSPORT: “The fact of the matter is if Manchester United are taking advantage of the fact that Newcastle’s owners have a lot of dough, I am not happy with it.

“They should get the same deal as when Lingard went to West Ham.

“If they got £12m from West Ham on the same deal, okay fair enough.

“But if they are just trying to take advantage of Newcastle and it’s affecting the boy, I am not happy.

“I just want to see Jesse Lingard play.”

Lingard is believed to be unhappy at the way the negotiations have unravelled between Manchester United and Newcastle.
