Tottenham Hotspur were in talks to sign the winger from Porto but Liverpool hijacked the deal in the early hours of Friday morning and he is now expected to join the Reds.
Liverpool moved forward their plans to sign Diaz in the summer once it became clear the player was prepared to move in the ongoing window.
A deal is in place between Liverpool and Porto for a deal worth €60m and a Liverpool contingent will be flying out to Argentina to conduct a medical for the winger.
But according to SIC Noticias’ Pedro Sepulveda, Porto’s decision to cash in on the attacker has made Conceicao unhappy.
Diaz has been a massive player for Porto and has scored 16 times in 28 appearances for the club this season in all competitions.
Porto are at top of the league at the moment and are the favourites to win the Portuguese top flight.
The Porto coach was not in favour of losing such a key player in the middle of the season and is unhappy about the proposed sale.
Diaz is keen on the move and is said to have agreed on terms on a contract with Liverpool already.
