Mellor spent the first half of the season at Crawley’s fellow League Two outfit Salford City but is now back at Old Trafford.

The youngster made just three appearances for Salford in the league, all of them second-half cameos and his total game-time did not amount to even 25 minutes.

He was thus recalled from his loan spell but he is now set to go out on loan again and in the same division once more.

Crawley have agreed a deal with Manchester United to take the youngster on loan for the rest of the season.

It is expected that the finishing touches on the move will be put in the next 24 hours, as some paperwork and the player’s medical are still remaining.

The Reds are currently 15th in the League Two table and will be hoping that the young striker brings some firepower to their side.

Mellor will be hoping he receives more game-time with the Reds than his spell with Salford and he furthers his development as a result of it.
