Lewis has been a bit-part player at Newcastle this season and he has fallen down the pecking order following the arrivals of Dan Burn and Matt Targett.
Newcastle have been open to loaning out the left-back on deadline day after it became clear that they were going to bring in two defenders before the window closes.
The left-back has a few clubs in the bottom half of the Premier League who are interested in getting their hands on him.
But Newcastle would prefer to let him join a club in the Championship and it has been claimed that Birmingham are interested.
The talks are ongoing between the two clubs for Lewis’ loan move to Birmingham on deadline day.
A few other Championship clubs are also believed to be interested in getting their hands on the left-back.
Newcastle have been hopeful that they will be able to loan out Lewis by the time the window closes tonight.
But the hours are running out for the two clubs to work out an agreement for Lewis’ loan.
