Aubameyang is firmly out of favour with Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and was stripped of the club captaincy earlier this season.
He earns in the region of £350,000 per week at Arsenal and the Gunners are keen to offload him from the books, despite not being close to signing a replacement.

Barcelona are now closing in on a loan deal for Aubameyang and he has landed at Barcelona airport.
He will now be put through his medical paces by the Catalan giants as he looks to seal his switch to the Camp Nou.
Aubameyang will provide Barcelona coach Xavi with extra firepower up front as the club look to qualify for the Champions League.
He will also be able to throw himself into European football with Barcelona, with the club involved in the Europa League.
All eyes will be on whether Arsenal do manage to pull a rabbit out of the hat and bring in a striker before the window shuts.
