Rangers are now reeling from the effects of a demoralising 3-0 defeat at Celtic on Wednesday night, which saw them relinquish their place at the top of the league table.

They are still just a point behind Celtic but their form has been poor in recent weeks and there are alarm bells ringing at Ibrox about their prospects of retaining the title.

Rangers signed Amad Diallo and Aaron Ramsey last month but Moore believes the best signing the club could make at the moment would be to bring in a Scottish coach into the backroom staff.

He believes Van Bronckhorst needs someone with local knowledge of Scottish football and he would also be a great conduit between the manager and the squad in the set-up.

The former Gers star said on the Go Radio Football Show: “I think the best signing that Rangers can make right now is getting a Scottish coach in there to support Giovanni and his backroom staff.

“For me, that would be the best signing of the season.

“I hope they are not stubborn with this, I hope they realise that this is somebody who knows every ground looks like, knows how every team looks like, and that would have the trust of the playing group and be a fantastic link from the playing group to the manager.

“Get that done, I think that would be the best signing of the season.”

It remains to be seen whether Rangers react to the bad defeat and make some changes in the backroom staff.
