The 52-year-old has emerged as the top contender to become the next Manchester United manager who will take charge of the club in the summer.

Manchester United conducted a formal interview with Ten Hag on Monday with the blessing of Ajax CEO Edwin van der Sar, who played for the Red Devils.

Ten Hag is believed to have enquired about Manchester United’s plans for the future and their budget for the summer transfer window.

But the Dutchman also made a solid impression on Manchester United following the interview.

Manchester United officials were left impressed with the vision and philosophy put forward by the Dutchman.

Ten Hag has impressed at Ajax and turned their fortunes around after they went five years without a trophy.

Despite talk of Ten Hag being the favourite, Manchester United are insistent that they have not made a decision.

They are planning to hold more interviews, with Mauricio Pochettino, Julen Lopetegui and Luis Enrique also on their radar.
