Manchester United were left impressed with Ten Hag after interviewing him earlier this week and he is now considered the top contender to become the next manager at Old Trafford.

The club are insistent that they will talk to multiple candidates and are expected to interview Pochettino as well in the coming days.

Brazil conceded that for him there is no clear favourite to become the next Manchester United boss, but believes Pochettino would be a safer bet for the club given his record with Tottenham in the Premier League.

He accepts that the Paris Saint-Germain coach has not won anything in England, but feels his CV is still better than Ten Hag’s despite the Dutchman’s trophies in the Netherlands.

The former Manchester United star said on talkSPORT: “I find it difficult to pick an absolute favourite.

“But if you are talking about the Ajax manager over Poch, I think Poch’s CV is better than the Ajax manager’s.

“They both made semi-finals of the Champions League but Poch had top-four finishes with Spurs.

“Alright, he hasn’t won anything but if you want to be insurance-wise then Poch has got a better CV than Ten Hag’s.”

Manchester United want to finalise the appointment of a new manager before the current campaign ends.
