Skipp has been suffering from a pelvic injury that has kept him out of the Spurs line-up for more than two months as he last played for them in late January.

Spurs manager Antonio Conte has been vocal in voicing his displeasure at the long-term absence of the midfielder, complaining that it leaves him short of options.

Conte did however mention last week that Skipp is on his way back to the team, with the manager describing him as very close to a return.

Skipp’s return has been prolonged though as the midfielder felt not entirely comfortable on his return to training.

The midfielder trained outdoors individually earlier in the week, but after feeling discomfort continued his recovery indoors.

It is a further blow to Spurs’ plans as the midfielder’s absence has stretched beyond what was initially fathomed and it is unclear at what stage he will be back in action.

The importance of the midfielder is clear to Spurs as the club have offered a new long-term deal to Skipp, who is close to signing it.
