Manchester United believe that they are close to reaching an agreement over appointing Ten Hag as their new manager.

The Premier League giants are in advanced talks with the Dutchman, but the Ajax boss is yet to give his final approval to a deal that would give him the keys to Old Trafford.

Ten Hag is keen to make sure that he has certain guarantees before he accepts the proposal to become the next Manchester United.

And the Dutchman has demanded a certain autonomy over the club’s transfer policy and players’ contracts before taking charge of Manchester United.

The 52-year-old wants to be 100 per cent involved in the decision making leading to player arrivals and departures.

Manchester United have a type of transfer committee involving John Murtough, Darren Fletcher and their head scouts.

Ten Hag wants to have more of a say as the manager and wants the incomings and outgoings to suit his style and the project that he wants to carry out at Old Trafford.

The Dutchman also wants larger involvement on which players would get new contracts at the club.

He sees it as a key area and does not want to be saddled with players that do not suit his style of play.
