The Premier League giants have reached a verbal agreement with Ten Hag, who is set to become their new manager at the end of the season.

Manchester United are expected to sort out the details of a deal with Ajax soon and the Dutchman will sign a four-year contract with the Red Devils.

The focus has now shifted to the staff Ten Hag wants at Old Trafford and the Ajax boss is claimed to be keen on taking his assistant Mitchell van der Gaag with him.

There is also talking of former England manager McClaren joining his staff and Ten Hag has spoken to him about Manchester United.

But there is still no contact between the 60-year-old and Manchester United over joining the Dutchman’s staff.

McClaren served as the number two to Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United and won three league titles including the treble in 1999.

Ten Hag served as the assistant to the Englishman when he was in charge of FC Twente in the Netherlands.

The former England boss won the Eredivisie title at Twente.
