Tottenham were soundly beaten 2-0 by Manchester United at Old Trafford on Wednesday night with the north London club having two shots on target all evening.

Manchester United dominated the game and Conte admitted later that he is concerned about the way his team have been playing against some of the bigger teams in the Premier League.

Owen stressed that Tottenham were disappointing and admitted that despite their start to the season, he does not like watching them play due to their style of football.

He conceded that Spurs have good players in their squad and possess the talent to be better than just a team who sit deep and look to hit the opposition on counter-attacks.

The former striker admitted that Tottenham’s style is not appealing and should frustrate a forward such as Harry Kane, who leads their line.

Owen, speaking post match, said on Premier League TV: “It’s a disappointing result and a disappointing performance as well.

“I am disappointed overall with Tottenham.

“I know everybody raves about their manager and where they are in the league and things like that but I never watch them and get thrilled by their performance.

“I think they play a lot of deep counter-attacking football and they have got great players, go and use them.

“If I was Harry Kane, I would be very frustrated in this team.

“As I said, they play deep and hit on the counter-attack but I think they are better than that.

“I think they can go and take the game to some teams and I particularly do not like their style of football.”

Tottenham have another tricky game on Sunday when they host Eddie Howe’s in-form Newcastle United at home.
