Rangers signed the 21-year-old left-back from Besiktas in the summer, splashing out close to £6m for him, but he is yet to cement a place in the team.

He made only his sixth appearance of the season when he started against Napoli and was impressive in Rangers’ 3-0 defeat at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona this week.

Moore believes he is one positive to come out of the trip to Naples and there is no doubt that he is going to offer a lot to Rangers bombing forward from left-back.

However, the former Gers defender feels the real challenge for Yilmaz will be to stand up to the more defensive and physical tests.

The former Rangers star is now keen to see the Turkey international a run of games in the starting eleven to see where he stands.

Moore said on the Go Radio Football Show: “One positive that I will say we have kind of taken a little bit of time to see is Yilmaz.

“He comes in, which was a big test from very little football.

“He looks comfortable going forward and that for me is ever going to be under question in terms of what he can deliver going forward.

“Defensive and physically – that going to be his test week-in-week-out.

“I would think you would start giving Yilmaz a run of games.

“I do believe that.”

Yilmaz has made just two appearances in the league this season and it remains to be seen whether he gets an opportunity to start against Aberdeen this weekend.
