The 22-year-old has caught the attention with his performance for Morocco in the World Cup, helping the team reach the semi-finals of the tournament.
That has heightened interest Ounahi, with a number of clubs around Europe showing keenness to snap him up from his current club Angers.
Leicester are claimed to be eyeing a swoop for the 22-year-old, having enquired about him and could move for him when the January window opens.
However, the Foxes face significant competition for Ounahi and, according to French outlet Foot Mercato, Napoli are in pole position in the chase.
Ounahi is said to prefer a move to Italy, where Inter are also showing interest.
Napoli are open to the idea of buying the Moroccan initially and then sending him out on loan to Angers for the remainder of the season.
Marseille meanwhile would like to keep the midfielder in France, but it is suggested they will struggle to afford him.
Ounahi moved to Angers in the summer of 2021 and has since featured in 47 games for them.
