Bellingham is almost certain to leave Borussia Dortmund at the end of the season and the competition to sign him is cut-throat.

He has been Liverpool’s number-one target since last summer and the club are working hard behind the scenes to convince him to move to Merseyside.

Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United are also interested, but Liverpool’s main rival for Bellingham is set to be Real Madrid.

The England international is their priority next summer and according to Madrid-based daily Marca, the reigning European champions are growing confident about landing the player.

They have been working away from the spotlight and behind the scenes to do the legwork required for the transfer.

Real Madrid have been in contact with the player and his camp, especially his father, to sell a move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Bellingham’s father has played a key role in his career until now and he is said to have had a big say when he rejected Manchester United to join Dortmund in 2020.

Real Madrid believe that they have made progress in discussions with the player and his camp and are certain that the transfer will not be only down to money.
