Uchegbulam had a trial with Everton, but after having surgery relating to problems with his heart, he was not signed permanently by the Toffees.

Before the start of the current season, the attacker signed for fifth-tier side Chesterfield and he has made more than 20 appearances for them this season, netting two goals.

Uchegbulam looks back fondly on the time he spent with Everton and the Nigeria-born star thinks he gained valuable experience while with the Toffees.

The winger is also glad to have had alongside him players who made a name for themselves later on, like Anthony Gordon, who left Everton under controversial circumstances last month for Newcastle United.

Speaking to Sky Italia, Uchegbulam said: “My time at Everton was wonderful.

“I had a lot of fun and it was a valuable experience.

“I played and trained with players who have now made a name for themselves in English football like Anthony Gordon.

“Of my team-mates he was the first to establish himself among the greats.”

The ex-Everton trialist had previously been in the youth set-up of AC Milan and he will be hoping that he helps his Chesterfield side get promoted at the end of the season, with the team currently fifth in the National League table.
