Hibs finished fifth in the league table in the recently concluded Scottish Premiership season and earned a place in the Europa Conference League qualifiers for next season.

Lee Johnson will be determined to strengthen their side for next season, especially in the forward department, which has seen several departures.

McManus thinks that the lure of European football will be key for Hibs to draw in some extremely talented players in the summer.

He also believes that Hibs’ priority in the transfer market should be to revamp their forward line after the departure of Mykola Kukharevych after the end of his loan spell and with Championship outfit Millwall courting Kevin Nisbet.

“Martin Boyle will be like a new signing when he returns from injury but the pending loss of Nisbet and loanee Mykola Kukharevych and maybe the departure of Harry McKirdy means they’ll need a revamp of the forward areas”, McManus wrote in his Daily Record column.

“That has to be the priority and the carrot of a potential run in continental football could be enough to lure extra quality to Leith.

“Because there really is nothing quite like a big European night under the lights.”

It is yet to be decided who Johnson’s side will face in the Europa Conference League qualifiers and the draw will take place on 20th June.
