Under Unai Emery’s guidance, Aston Villa have managed to qualify for the Europa Conference League and the manager wants to add depth to his defence this summer.

The 26-year-old centre-back has been a key target for Emery, who previously worked with Torres during his time at Villarreal.

Torres has a €60m release clause on his contract, but Villarreal have been open to selling him for less due to his contract situation.

An agreement is now in place, according to Spanish outlet Relevo, which will see Villarreal pick up €35m to €40m.

It is suggested that Villarreal were hoping to squeeze €45m out of Aston Villa for Torres.

However, the need to agree a deal before 30th June has meant that Villarreal had to lower the price and accept a smaller offer for Torres.

The Premier League club are not anticipating any problems in agreeing on personal terms with the defender and Torres will be in England soon to complete the move.
