Ratcliffe is set to buy 25 per cent of Manchester United’s shares through his company INEOS to take a minority stake in the Glazer-led club.

The British billionaire will take sporting control of the club once the deal goes through and an announcement is expected soon.

There was talk of the deal getting announced this week but that is yet to happen despite the changes behind the scenes at Old Trafford.

It has been claimed that there does not appear to be any hold-up and the deal is very much on course to be completed.

Manchester United are legally bound to let the New York Stoke Exchange know of any deal once everything is completed.

However, Ratcliffe’s arrival looks imminent given Manchester United have already announced the departure of CEO Richard Arnold.

Football director John Murtaugh is also expected to move on with Ratcliffe expected to carry out sweeping changes to fix the football structure behind the scenes.

Patrick Stewart has been announced as the interim chief executive but former Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain CEO Jean-Claude Blanc is expected to fill the role in the long term once Ratcliffe gets into the building.
