The 24-year-old defender joined Liverpool in the summer of 2021 from RB Leipzig for a transfer in the region of £36m.

Last season, Konate missed the first half of the campaign due to a knee injury and was a regular in the starting line-up in the latter part of the season.

It has been suggested that Jurgen Klopp has been impressed with his development and he is viewed as a key man at Anfield, especially in light of Joel Matip’s season ending injury.

Konate has a deal with Liverpool that is set to expire in June 2026 and Liverpool are interested in extending his stay at Anfield.

According to French magazine Le 10 Sport, Konate’s representatives have opened talks with Liverpool regarding extending his contract.

It has been suggested that Klopp is hoping that Konate’s contract negotiations will be dealt with in the coming weeks to fend off transfer interest from other clubs in the future.

Konate has featured 13 times for Liverpool in the league, and the French international has helped the Reds keep three clean sheets in his last six appearances.

Paris Saint-Germain are one of the sides to have been linked with Konate.
