Former Tottenham Hotspur defender Ramon Vega has claimed that he is prepared to accept defeats with the kind of football Spurs are playing this season over last term’s boring football under Antonio Conte.

Spurs suffered a 4-2 defeat to Brighton at the Amex Stadium on Thursday night and are sitting fifth in the Premier League standings.

The north London club are fighting to secure a top-four spot this season but their form has seen a downturn due to several injuries to key players over the last month or so.

Vega conceded that the performance against Brighton was disappointing but stressed that it is still much better than the boring football Tottenham were playing last season under Conte.

He insisted that very few actually gave Ange Postecoglou a chance this season and conceded that he would have never thought that he could turn Spurs into a team that even opposition fans enjoy watching because of the football they are playing.

Vega took to X and wrote: “To be honest it was disappointing today the performance and the result but if I only think of last season’s performances and the boring football being played, I take all day long the football we have been playing this season until today even if we lost today away with lots of injuries in the squad.

“We would have never thought by the end of last season or even at the beginning of this season with a new manager [who] most of the fans thought he would not make it but [he] surprised most of them and turned Spurs into a football club that even the biggest rivals in the Premier League like to watch us how we play football.

“Let’s not forget where we came from. COYS still work to do with Spurs.

“January is a key month and a New Year!”

Tottenham will look to bounce back when they host Bournemouth at home on New Year’s Eve.
