Rangers have not yet got in touch with Leeds United to ask about striker Joe Gelhardt, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

Gelhardt could leave Elland Road during this month’s transfer window on a loan deal and is not short of interest.

Several of Leeds’ Championship rivals would like to capture Gelhardt, who had a productive spell on loan at Sunderland last season.

Scottish giants Rangers have also been strongly linked with an interest in the Leeds man.

The Gers though have not yet made contact with Leeds to register their interest in signing Gelhardt on loan.

Gelhardt is on a substantial pay packet at Elland Road, which Leeds would likely want to see covered during any loan.

The 21-year-old has made six appearances in the Championship for Leeds so far this season.

He did play in the Premier League for Leeds and turned out in 35 games in the top flight in a white shirt.
