Southampton are pushing to close a loan deal for Leeds United target and Bournemouth forward David Brooks, according to the Press Association.
Saints are third in the Championship table and are only three points off second-placed Ipswich Town in the battle for an automatic promotion spot.
Russell Martin’s side have a forward on their agenda in the ongoing transfer window and they have identified Bournemouth’s Brooks as an ideal candidate.
However, Southampton are not the only team interested in acquiring Brooks’ services, as Saints’ promotion rivals Leeds are also in the hunt for his signature.
Daniel Farke is an admirer of the Bournemouth star’s talents and believes that Brooks would strengthen Leeds forward department.
It has been claimed that Southampton are pushing to agree to a loan deal with Bournemouth for the Wales international.
Brooks has been a bit-part player under Andoni Iraola this season and has made 12 league appearances, scoring one goal.
Now it remains to be seen whether Leeds will try to hijack Brooks’ move to Southampton in the coming days.
