Tottenham Hotspur defender Ashley Phillips has revealed that he was drawn towards Plymouth Argyle once they came up with their offer and now is looking forward to kicking on for the club.

The Championship side announced their first signing of January with the 18-year-old arriving from Tottenham on a loan until the end of the season.

The move is the teenager’s first spell away from London since arriving from Blackburn Rovers on 5th August last year.

Expressing his excitement at having got the opportunity to sign for Plymouth, Phillips insisted that he became really drawn towards the team and is eagerly awaiting the opportunity to wear the club’s colours.

“I am really excited to be here”, Phillips said in an interview with Plymouth’s official channel.

“When Argyle came in for me I was really drawn to the team.

“So, to be here I am very excited to kick on and see what I can do for the club.”

Phillips has played first-team football with Blackburn Rovers and comes with previous Championship experience.

Plymouth will hope that he will be able to capitalise on that.
