Plymouth Argyle director of football Neil Dewsnip believes that Tottenham Hotspur star Alfie Devine will provide the Argyle midfield with energy and creativity.

The 19-year-old attacking midfielder spent the first half of the season with Port Vale, where his impressive performances attracted interest from Championship club Plymouth.

Tottenham recalled Devine from his loan spell with League One outfit Port Vale to provide him with a new challenge by sending him on loan to Plymouth.

Dewsnip pointed out that Plymouth boss Ian Foster knows Devine from his England Under-20 side and believes that the Spurs star was a standout performer in League One this season.

The Plymouth director of football also added that Devine fits the profile of players they were looking for in the market and is confident that the Tottenham loanee will provide them with energy and creativity in midfield.

“Alfie is well-known to Ian, as someone who has selected him for England age groups, and he is known to our recruitment department, who have identified Alfie as a leading player in Sky Bet League One this season with Port Vale”, Dewsnip told Plymouth Argyle’s official site.

“He fits the profile of a young, talented player who we can assist in developing, and who will offer us great energy, ability and creativity in our midfield.”

Plymouth are set to take on Cardiff City at the weekend and all eyes will be on Devine to see whether he will make his debut for Argyle on Saturday.
